  • Connect an Ethernet cable from your Netgear WNDR router to a wireless device such as a computer.
  • On your computer system, launch a web browser to log into Netgear router.
  • Next, type or in the address bar. Press the enter button on the keyboard.
  • A login screen appears; enter the default username and password of the Netgear WNDR router.
  • Press the login button to open the web-based management page of the Netgear device.

  • First of all, disconnect the modem from the power source and remove all the cables.
  • Use an Ethernet cable and connect it from the Internet port of the Netgear WNDR router to the LAN port of the modem.
  • Turn on both the router and the modem by hooking up to a power adapter.
  • Now, connect a computer to the WNDR router with an Ethernet cable.
  • Next, connect to the router’s Wi-Fi network by using either an Ethernet cable or the network name (SSID) and password (passkey). The network name and password are printed on the back of the Netgear WNDR router.
  • Open a web browser on your computer and visit the web address
  • When prompted, enter the Netgear login username and password. Head over to the Netgear router setup wizard to configure the Netgear router.

The next thing, you need to do is to make some settings within the Netgear WNDR series router like change the SSID and password, change the default admin passwords. Follow the steps mentioned below:

  1. On the Netgear’s basic homepage, go to the ‘Wireless’ tab.
  2. Now, change the name of the 2.4GHz wireless network and set appropriate security and the wireless password.
  3. Do the same for the 5GHz network as well.
  4. Apply changes by pressing the ‘Save’ button.
  5. Now, you can connect to the Netgear’s new Wi-Fi network name.

Here are the steps to change the admin password of the Netgear WNDR series routers:

  1. Launch a web browser on the PC connected to the Netgear router’s network.
  2. Enter the web address in the address bar to access the Netgear router admin page.
  3. Enter the username and the default password of the Netgear device.
  4. Go to the ‘Advanced’ tab and then head over to Administration.
  5. Now, choose the option ‘change password’.
  6. Type in both the old password and the new password.

The biggest difference between these two frequencies is their ability to spread across a certain distance and the strength that resides between each of them. Each of these has a certain strong area where they can perform well. While the 2.4GHz frequency can travel farther distances, the 5GHz frequencies can transfer data faster.

Since the 5GHz frequencies have a larger bandwidth, they are unable to travel over larger distances. The 5 GHz frequencies are greatly affected by the wireless interferences. Since most of these frequencies also use the 2.4 GHz band such as the microwaves, the 2.4 GHz frequencies also suffer high dispersions.
